A Friendly Martial Arts Seminar
Saturday March 15, 2008

Sensei Jose-Carlos Garcia, 7th degree black belt of the Oshawa Wado-Kai Karate club joined by Sensei Mick Chambers, 4th degree Black Belt of the Yoshinkan Aikido Club also from Oshawa and special guest Sensei Burt Gotlieb, 4th degree black belt of the Japanese Shotokan Karate-Do Association from Detroit Michigan. Together the three masters of Martial Arts showed to their respective black belts the similarities, diversities and intricacies of the three different styles at a Black Belt Seminar held on Saturday March 15/08. The event was hosted at the Yoshinkan Aikido Dojo in Oshawa and hopes this to be an annual event. The 19 combined black belts and one (Aikido) brown belt were treated to 4 1/2 hours of information and practice.

Regardless of the style, the Martial Arts prove to be a combined art form of patience, inner and outer strength to re-direct an attack simply with deflection. Wado-Kai, and Shotokan styles are two of the four major styles of karate in Japan . Aikido means the way to harmonize energy, in practice, this style uses the attackers energy against them by redirecting it into a throw or a pin.
