Jack Gingras THE STUDY OF KARATE

1974 THE BEGINNING – WAWA
· Started my life as a karateka student, training with Masaru Shintani, Danny McCoy, Rick Leveille, Bruce Perkins, Randy Quarrell and Ron White.

1978 SHODAN
· Graded to Shodan at Ottawa St. in Hamilton by Sensei Shintani.

1983 NIDAN
· Moved to Port Colborne and graded to Nidan.

1992 SANDAN
· Graded to Sandan.

1993 SHINDO
· Began studying shindo on a regular basis under Sensei Shintani, Sensei Peter Ciolfi, Sensei Ron Mattie, and Sensei Dave Bocus, Sensei Denis Labbe.

1998 YODAN
· Graded to Yodan

· Instructor to over 200 students

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Awarded Lifetime Instructor Certification by the Shintani Karate Do Federation of North America.
  • July 1998 – 2000 member of the Shintani Wado Kai national team ( #1 ranking 4th degree black belt in Canada).
  • Voted chairperson of the finance, grading, kata tape, tournament and fundraising committees for the Welland dojo as well as being their representative during regional meetings.
  • Asked by Sensei Shintani to form new shindo Chinto kata as well as other shindo katas. Asked by Sensei Shintani to participate in demonstrating katas in his book.
