Peter Ruch, 6th Dan E-Mail:
Peter Ruch I first became involved in the Martial Arts at the age of 15, when I took instruction in Judo. As the years passed, I married Darlene, a very supportive and understanding person. As our young family grew, we looked for something to do together. We choose Karate, and in 1977, Corrine (Corry), Steve, and I started taking instruction from Sensei Roland Day. Darlene, a nurse, put us back together from time to time.
In the early 80’s Sensei Rolly, moved west to spread the word of Wado Kai, and the Fort Erie Club was eventually passed it on to me. I have met many wonderful, dedicated and interesting people during my karate career. There have been many changes in the organization over the years, but the recent Incorporation of the Federation is seen as a giant step forward. I was honoured by Sensei Shintani, who approved my appointment to the Senate, and appointed me a Vice-President of the Federation. My view of the future of the Federation is that it will be the parent body of all Wado Kai participants in Canada with affiliate members from around the world. The introduction of the Shintani Wado Kai Competition Team is a tremendous step forward. This will give the Federation an opportunity to introduce itself to International Events and will be a focal point for young karateka. We have an organization with immense talent and with the proper education and communication we will succeed.
